Brandon Manning to Chicago is worse... Brandon Manning is an AHL-level defenseman making over $2M/year for two years. Jay Beagle may be making too much for too long, but he, at least, has a bottom 6 forward skillset.

I don't want to completely defend Jay Beagle here but he took 998 face-offs last season and won 58.5% of them. He was easily one of the better face-off guys last season. As a team, the Canucks only won 49.5%. I would have said this was a great signing had it been 2 years instead of 4 but given their cap situation and contracts; it's not the end of the world.

That John Tavares anchor contract is going to bring down a giant.

It's gotta be the Beagle contract, yes he's still a good bottom six forward, he's good on the PK and he's a good faceoff guy but he's 33 years old. Only good thing about that contract is the final year is only $1.2 million and can be bought out.

In the past 20 years the Flyers have been to the Conference finals four times including a Cup final in 2010. Do some homework. Fifteen of the past twenty years they've made the playoffs.

The term on the Beagle signing sucks...the player is fine and will be a character guy for the team. 2 years would have been perfect.

Flyers haven't been a factor since Hextall left the crease!!
